Russia to Improve Reserves Data

Russia is ready to ease its stance on reserves data, which analysts believe is a courtesy towards foreign investors that are prepared to spend billions of dollars on joint projects with Russian majors. Russia's natural resources ministry has prepared a draft document that should lift confidentiality on the data concerning crude oil and gas reserves. The draft plan has been initiated by deputy prime minister in charge of the energy sector, Arkady Dvorkovich. Russia's current law on state secrecy says that data on strategic mineral resources -- which include oil and gas -- comprising information on their amount, production and consumption levels, are confidential.
