Russia’s top independent gas producer Novatek has denied rumors about potential delays to flagship Yamal LNG project, stating that a final investment decision (FID) could be taken soon while substantial gas sales contracts should be in place by midyear. Speaking on a conference call to discuss 2012 results, Novatek Chief Financial Officer Mark Gyetvay put special emphasis on the Arctic LNG project, in which the Russian firm holds 80% with the rest belonging to French major Total.
