摘要

Total LNG imports by Japan, South Korea and China -- Asia's biggest markets for imported gas -- rose 13.1% in October from a year ago to 12.08 million tons, according to the latest official data. The boost was mainly driven by Japan and South Korea, both of which are trying to offset reduced nuclear power generation. However, the growth in total imports from January to October was a more modest increase of 4.8% to 119.1 million tons, mostly the result of Japan moderating its consumption of LNG thanks to new coal-fired power plants coming into play. However, South Korea and China witnessed bigger volume jumps in the first 10 months this year.
