Hess will raise its underlying capital spending roughly 10% this year to $6.8 billion, as the US integrated oil firm ramps up production in the North Dakota Bakken play and conduct further exploration offshore Ghana. Hess spent $6.2 billion last year, excluding the roughly $1 billion it paid out to acquire an initial position in the Ohio Utica Shale and raise its interest in the South Arne Field in the Danish North Sea.
