BG Denies Shelving Brindisi

UK-based BG Group has denied an Italian report that it has shelved its 8 Bcm/yr (5.8 million ton/yr) LNG import terminal at Brindisi, but admits that its patience is wearing thin. “Extensive and ongoing delays to the project schedule have regrettably left BG Group with no option other than to move the Brindisi LNG import terminal project back to the reassessment phase,” a BG spokesperson told International Oil Daily on Tuesday. BG could not say when the project would proceed, adding that greater certainty was needed to determine its future. The company noted that project management has been switched from Brindisi to Milan, where BG Italia is based.
