Argentina Extends Grip on Gas

Enargas, Argentina's natural-gas regulator, has extended its takeovers of the main gas sup- plier to Buenos Aires and of a pipeline company. The regulator announced on Tuesday that it would extend its intervention at Metrogas, Argentina's largest gas distributor with about 2.1 million customers, by 120 days. Enargas seized control of Metrogas in June after the firm announced it would soon file for bankruptcy. At the time, Enargas said it would stay in charge only as long as it took to restructure Metrogas' debt.
