InterOil's LNG Export Plans Come Under Heavy Fire From PNG

The government of Papua New Guinea(PNG) this week slammed plans by New York-listed InterOil for an LNG project that combinesan onshore plant with a floating LNG (FLNG)platform. Meeting last week, the National Ex-ecutive Council (NEC), PNG’s cabinet, rejectedthe proposals for Liquid Niugini Gas (LNGL)because they do not meet the criteria set in De-cember 2009 when the government and LNGLsigned a project agreement for an LNG facility ofup to 10.6 million tons per year, Petroleum andEnergy Minister William Duma said in a pressrelease (IOD Dec.28’09).
