摘要

At least 10 people were killed in Kazakhstan on Friday as oil workers dismissed from a unit of London-listed Kazmunaigas Exploration Production (KMG EP) clashed with riot police, marring celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence from the Soviet Union. The clashes took place in the oil town of Zhanaozen in western Kazakhstan, near the Uzen field where 1,000 workers were sacked this summer after a three-month strike over pay and conditions.
