Iraq Looks East to Asia for Oil Sales

Iraq has raised term crude contract volumes by 15% to nearly 3 million bar- rels per day in 2012, in anticipation of a burst of new production and exports from the country's oil developments. A list of contract customers obtained by International Oil Daily shows two newcomers: Azerbaijan's Socar and Russia's Gazprom. Sales of Basrah Light from the south are penciled in at 2.356 million b/d, versus 2.054 million b/d i n 2011, while northern Kirkuk exports are forecast to rise to 591,000 b/d from 509,000 b/d.
