Jakarta Awards CBM Blocks

Indonesia has awarded two coalbed methane (CBM) blocks in Kalimantan to Indian conglomerate Monnet Ispat & Energy and local CBM player Ephindo Energy, a government official told Dow Jones Newswires on Thursday. The Melak Mendung I Block went to Ephindo and Melak Mendung III to Monnet Ispat. The firms will commit a total of $20.3 million to the blocks, covering exploration studies, well drilling and other expenses, the Indonesia Today newspaper reported. The government will get a signature bonus of $3.3 million.
