Oz Spend Hits New High

The Australian resource boom continues unabated, with capital expenditure of the country's advanced minerals and energy projects at a record $A173.5 billion (US$184 billion) in April, 31% higher than last October, the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (Abares) said in its latest six-month review. The number of projects at an advanced stage -sanctioned and/or under construction -has risen by 22 from six months ago (IOD Nov.19,p7).
