A new study concludes that shale gas development is generating a host of economic benefits for the US, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs, reducing energy costs and lifting gross domestic product in the midst of a global recession. The IHS Global Insight study — commissioned by industry trade group America’s Natural Gas Alliance (ANGA) — attempts to quantify the economic benefits that shale gas development is providing for the US economy.
