The picture is getting steadily gloomier forGulfsands Petroleum, the UK-listed indepen-dent that gets the vast majority of its oil pro-duction from crisis-torn Syria and is part-owned by controversial Syrian tycoon RamiMakhlouf (IOD Oct.7’11).Just 10 days after reporting that oil out-put from Block 26 in northeastern Syriahad fallen to just 6,000 barrels per dayfrom an average of 14,550 b/d in Septem-ber and 24,110 b/d in August, Gulfstreamannounced Monday that it had not re-ceived any payment from the Syrian au-thorities since late July.
