TNK-BP inked long-term gas and electricity supply deals with Russian power generator Inter Rao on Thursday, as well as a memorandum of understanding envisaging further cooperation. Under the 18-year gas deal, TNK-BP is to supply 3 Bcm-3.5 Bcm/yr of dry, lean gas to the Nizhnevartovsk state district power plant in Siberia. The contract terms give the plant a certain amount of leeway to alter contract- ed gas volumes, the Russian-UK joint ven- ture said. Inter Rao head Boris Kovalchuk said it has to take a minimum amount each year; if it doesn't, it has three years to take the volume or TNK-BP can fine it.
