Firms Spud Polish Shale Well

UK-listed San Leon Energy (SLE) and Canada’s Talisman Energy have spudded the Rogity-1 shale gas exploration well, the second well of a three-well program in Poland’s Baltic Basin, SLE announced on Tuesday. The Talisman-operated well is targeting unconventional shale gas in the lower Silurian, Ordovician and upper Cambrian formations in the Braniewo S concession — one of three Baltic Basin licenses in which it partners Talisman. The third well will be drilled in the Szczawno concession in early 2012.
