China's retail product pricing mechanism may upset the domestic supply-demand balance and should be improved so it better reflects international market conditions, according to a researcher for the country's powerful State Council, the government body with ultimate authority over fuel policy. Retail prices "should be decided by the market, not by the government," said Deng Yusong, from the State Council's Development Research Center in Beijing.
