Gazprom Claims No Liability for Rig Tragedy Offshore Russia

Gazprom said it had nothing to do with the tragedy in the Sea of Okhotsk, where the Kolskaya jackup rig sank early Sunday during a heavy storm, having completed work for the Russian gas giant offshore Kamchatka. Only 14 people out of 67 were rescued from the rig, which was on its way to Sakhalin having been towed by icebreaker Magadan and tug Neftegaz-55.
