More Brazil Fines for Chevron

The Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro is seeking 150 million reals ($83.7 million) in reparations from Chevron following last month’s oil spill at the firm’s Frade offshore field. Chevron will also have to submit all of its operations in the state to an environmental audit. Carlos Minc, Rio de Janeiro state’s environmental secretary, said that the state will file a formal request for reparations next week because of the damage caused to marine life by the spill.
