Despite continued uncertainty about the details and financing of its five-year business plan, Petrobras is pushing ahead with plans to develop Brazil's offshore subsalt oil and gas reserves. Petrobras will launch a pilot project producing 100,000 barrels per day at the Tupi field by the end of this year, followed by pilot production at the Guara and Iara discoveries, Chief Financial Officer Almir Barbassa said on Tuesday.
