Anglo-Irish Tullow Oil said Thursday that the Nsoga-5 appraisal well on its 100%-owned Block 2 license in Uganda’s Butiaba region encountered 10 meters of net oil pay. Nsoga-5 was drilled to a depth of 587 meters northeast of the Nsoga-1 discovery well, targeting equivalent reservoirs in a previously undrilled fault block. The well is the first in a multi-well appraisal campaign planned to further evaluate the extent and production potential of oil accumulations in the greater Nsoga area. It has been suspended for future re-entry and the rig will now move 2 km south to the Kigogole field to drill the Kigogole-5 appraisal well.
