India's Reliance Industries wants to turn itself into a global energy player by investing more heavily in existing businesses such as oil and gas exploration, refining and petrochemicals, and raising its profile in new areas like retailing and alternative energy, according to Chairman Mukesh Ambani. "The business transformation initiative would create a Reliance that is able to scale up existing businesses and adds new business both organically and inorganically," Ambani told the annual shareholder meeting in Mumbai Tuesday.
