After winning a contract to develop the giant Zubair oil field in Iraq, Eni and its partners are putting the final touches on a joint production agreement with Iraq's oil ministry, the company said Thursday. Eni officials acknowledged reports quoting Iraqi oil ministry spokesman Asim Jihad as saying that an initial agreement would be signed Nov. 1 with Eni and partners, US Occidental Petroleum, South Korea's Kogas and Iraq's South Oil Co. But Eni spokesman Filippo Cotalini said he thought this was optimistic.
