EU Agrees Energy Plan List

The European Union council of ministers has agreed the number of projects and amount of money to be allocated to gas and electricity projects under the EU's European Energy Program for Recovery (EEPR). The council, made up of ministers from all 27 EU members, agreed to allocate ?3.98 billion ($5.56 billion) to 47 projects, with the lion's share - ?1.44 billion - going to 18 gas infrastructure schemes. Gas infrastructure projects have become the EU's top priority following the severe disruption to gas supplies to many eastern European countries caused by the January spat between Russia and Ukraine (IOD Jan.8,p1).
