US independent Occidental expects Abu Dhabi's state Mubadala Development to join the consortium that will develop Iraq's Zubair oil field in what would be the latest Mideast collaboration between the two (IOD Oct.23,p8). "We are going to share part of our share, probably with Abu Dhabi," Oxy Chief Executive Ray Irani said last week. A consortium led by Italy's Eni struck a deal with Baghdad earlier this month to boost production at the 195,000 barrel per day Zubair field in southern Iraq to 1.125 million b/d over the next seven years after caving in to Baghdad's tough payment terms (IOD Oct.14,p1).
