Gazprom has reportedly bought 50% of gas marketer A2A Beta from Italian firms A2A and Iride, giving the Russian state gas giant direct access to Italian endusers. The purchase should allow Gazprom to sell some 900 MMcm/yr into the Italian market. The deal follows an October agreement between Gazprom Export and Gazprom-owned ZMB to set up a joint venture with the Italian utilities and supply them with gas. A2A had owned 70% of the joint venture and Iride 30%, but both have halved their stakes to make way for Gazprom.
