Talisman Pursues PNG Gas

Canada's Talisman Energy is buying into two more permits, PPL 268 and PPL 269, in Papua New Guinea (PNG) as it attempts to consolidate up to 5 Tcf of gas reserves for what would be PNG's third planned LNG scheme (IOD Sep.14,p3). Australia-listed New Guinea Energy is farming out an initial 15% of PPL 268 and 50% of PPL 269. Talisman will pay A$2.5 million (US$2.2 million) for PPL 268 and A$6.2 million for PPL 269 as reimbursement for past costs.
