Cerrejon union meets management to avoid strike

The union of Colombia's largest coal mine Cerrejon is meeting with the company today to hear a counteroffer regarding salaries and benefits, which couid avert a strike at the mine. The meeting, which began at 10:30 local time (15:30 GMT), is possible thanks to the mediation of Jose Noe Rios, deputy minister of labour relations, union Sintracarbon president Igor Diaz said.
