Foresight sales, revenues hit record in 2014

Illinois basin coal producer Foresight Energy achieved record high sales volumes and revenues in 2014, although revenue gains were tempered by a lower mix of export shipments and reduced average per-ton prices. Foresight’s coal sales totaled 22mn short tons (20mn metric tonnes) last year, including about 6.5mn st of exports, up by 19pc from 2013. Coal sales revenues rose by 16pc to $1.1bn. Fourth quarter shipments totaled 5.9mn st, down from 6mn st in the third quarter but up by 14pc on the year.
