Amtrak hits revenue record in 2014 as losses drop

Amtrak notched a record $3.2 billion in revenue in fiscal 2014, up about 8 percent from thernpreceding year, while its net losses declined almost 14 percent to about $1 billion, thernpassenger railroad reported in a news release this morning. The bulk of the growth came fromrnticket sales and other "passenger related" revenue, which rose to $2.5 billion, a 6 percentrnincrease from 2013. Up almost 15 percent were revenues from an amalgam of other sourcesrnsuch as real estate and track access fees, which jumped to about $545 million.
