Michigan's Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) approved a permit yesterday for Wolverine Power Supply Cooperative to build a 600MW coal-fired power plant in Rogers City. The agency said the company's proposal satisfies all state and federal clean air laws. “While the DEQ's approval of the air quality permit is a significant milestone, we have more work to do, including a thorough financial and rate evaluation and a decision by our board of directors on whether to proceed with the project,” Wolverine Power said. “We are currently evaluating the conditions included in the final version of the permit.”
