Senators urge Commerce to apply new trade laws

The U.S. Commerce Department has been criticized by a group of 22 senators of not adhering to elements of the recently passed Leveling the Playing Field Act.The senators-led by the bill's sponsor Sherrod Brown (D., Ohio) and most of whom represent districts with strong ties to manufacturing, including steel works-are "concerned" that the agency is not applying certain provisions of the law dealing with "uncooperative respondents," they said in a March 21 letter to Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker.
