Data shows highvalue of scrap exports

The Institute of Scrap RecyclingIndustries (ISRI) released an independentdata earlier this year highlightingthe important role scrapcommodities play in U.S. exports.According to a study by theconsulting firm John Dunhamand Associates, the scrap recyclingindustry is responsible for creatingmore than 125,000 U.S. jobs throughits exports, which account for morethan 26 percent of the industry’seconomic activity.
