Walter Energy Inc. on Tuesday defended its record after one of its larger shareholders questioned the competence of the company's management and proposed Walter put itself up for sale. Walter's management and board of directors confirmed receipt of a recommendation by shareholder Audley Capital Advisors LLP that Walter put itself on the sales block, saying in a statement that they "welcome constructive dialogue with all of its shareholders."
