Argentine agchem market to rise in 2016

New government measures will help boost Argentine agriculture and pesticide sales in 2016, newspaper Clarin Rural reports. It cites a market study that reckons that measures such as an end to export taxes on agricultural produce will stimulate the agri-economy and lead to a 12% rise in agrochemical sales to some $2,700 million. That compares with an estimated $2,450 million market of last year. That came after a 2015 fall in sales of 10%. The Clarin Rural report claims that growers cut investments last year due to low profitability expectations in part on government-imposed costs. The report also cites falling commodity prices, a lower value of the Argentine peso currency, increased price of glyphosate herbicide and “internal costs”.
