China’s agchem foreign trade drops 8% in first five months

China’s agrochemical foreign trade fell 8.4% year-on-year in the first five months of 2015, with exports seeing a significant drop in value while imports remained level. Export volumes increased by 3.8% to 586,000 tonnes from January to May, but dropped 10.2% in value terms to $1,777 million. Imports in the five-month period were valued at $391.9 million, an increase of just 0.7% on the same period last year, with import volumes up 3.9% to 45,000 tonnes. The data come from China’s General Administration of Customs and are published by the China Crop Protection Industry Association. Despite a slowdown in growth, the country’s imports and exports each saw double-digit rises in 2014.
