China’s pesticide market stable as peak season arrives

China’s pesticide prices and supply are steady, with only herbicide prices seeing some large fluctuations, reports the country’s Ministry of Agriculture. The market enters peak season this spring. In December last year, China’s average pesticide price index was down across all major categories when compared with the previous year. In southern China, the herbicide market is “in good shape”, with glyphosate, paraquat and glufosinate-ammonium enjoying “brisk” sales. Oversupply of glyphosate has seen prices for the active ingredient fall, with 30% glyphosate aqueous solutions dropping in price from Yuan 13,500/tonne ($2,200/tonne at the current rate) this time last year to the end of March levels of some Yuan 12,000/tonne ($1,900/tonne).
