Faced with bulging coal stockpiles and low naturalgas prices, more Indiana electric utilities are implementing coal decrementpricing policies in hopes that the Midcontinent Independent SystemOperator will dispatch their coal-fired generating units more frequently.Under coal decrement pricing, coal units are bid into the MISOmarket below cost so they will be more competitive and more likely tobe dispatched by the Carmel, Indiana-based grid operator.
