CIF ARA thermal coal 15-60 day spot price slips over $1 to record low

The European-delivered CIF ARA physical thermal coal spot market slipped over $1 Monday, as the lack of bullish supply-demand fundamentals weighed on prices and limited liquidity continued because of the holidays, sources said. Platts assessed the price of CIF ARA thermal coal basis 6,000 kcal/kg NAR and for delivery within the next 15-60 days at $68.10/mt, down $1.40 from Wednesday to the lowest close since Platts launched the 15-60-day price assessment window at the beginning of March 2013.
