Forming of soils on young moraines in the basin of the Aktru Glacier (Central Altai, North-Chuya Ridge)

Illustrated by the dated sediments of the Malyi Aktru Glacier, the forming of soils in the highlands of the North-Chuya Ridge is examined. It is shown that in the extreme conditions of glacier moraines the rocks change and young soils form in stages as the vegetative cover develops. It is determined that pioneer stages of soil-formation take 300-500 years and end in forming podburs and cryozems.
