NYMEX September gas settles 5.5 cents higher on storage miss, forecasts

The NYMEX September natural gas futures contract settled 5.5 cents higher at $3.841/MMBtu Thursday on a bullish storage miss and longer-term forecasts showing a greater likelihood of summer heat. The US Energy Information Administration earlier Thursday reported an 88-Bcf injection to storage for the week ended July 25, below most expectations in the 90-94 Bcf range and the second consecutive miss to the downside.
