The back half of 2010 and 2011 were actively traded periods in Wednesday’s over-the-counter coal markets. In the look-alike market, Q4 2010 traded three times at $61/st for five barges and then at $60.75 for the same volume. Wednesday’s Q4 2010 trades were roughly in the middle of Tuesday’s trades, which were five barges each at $61.25/st and $60.75/st. Q3 2010 traded at $58.50/st for 10 barges, down 25 cents from Tuesday’s trade at $58.75 for the same tonnage. Also, Q4 2010 over CY 2011 traded at -$5.25/st for 20 barges, $2.25 for five barges, and $5.50/st for 20 barges. Also, Q3 2010 over back half 2011 traded at -$9.50/st for 10 barges, and Q4 2010 over Q3 2010 traded five barges once for $2.40/st and twice for the same volume at $2.30/st.
