Nutrient-based subsidy policy for fertilisers lacks clear roadmap: CAG

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has recommended a review of measures to adequately ensure that manufacturers and marketers set the prices of decontrolled fertilisers at a level reasonable to farmers. The CAG's report on Nutrient-Based Subsidy (NBS) policy for phosphatic, potassic (P&K) and complex fertilisers, tabled in Parliament recently, found that was no "clear roadmap" to achieve the objectives outlined by the policy, which was instituted on April 1, 2010, replacing the earlier 'Concession Scheme'.
