CSIR institutes like the Lucknow-based Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP), Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT), and Jammu-based Indian Institute of Integrative Medicines (HIM) have been in the forefront of research to ensure better yields for aromatic crops and economic viability for farmers. However, the essential oil industry is looking at more proactive research work by these institutes and hoping these bodies act as a bridge between the industry and the farmers.
