Chennai-based chemical industry lobby group, Chemical Industries Association (CIA), has appealed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to find an amicable solution to the natural gas pipeline project being implemented by Gail India. Farmers located in the region through which the gas pipeline would be laid in Tamil Nadu had objected to the project, fearing that the pipeline passing through the agricultural field would affect the cultivation practices and their livelihood. The Tamil Nadu Government issued an order stopping the pipeline project. Instead of convincing the farming community about the safety aspects of the gas pipeline, Gail India has thought it fit to ap- proach the judiciary to solve the issue, CIA said.
