Alembic mulls demerger of pharma unit; to enter real estate business

Gujarat-based Alembic Ltd. is proposing to demerge its pharmaceutical unit and enter the real estate business in Vadodara where it holds more than 100 acres of prime land. Alembic is envisaging demerger of its core pharmaceutical business into a 100% subsidiary company called Alembic Pharma Ltd (APL) while the parent company will continue to look after its other Vadodara undertakings.
