Job cuts, plant closures on anvil as BASF finalises integration plan for Ciba

About 3,700 job positions and 23 production sites of the erstwhile Ciba Holding are likely to impacted as BASF begins the integration process of its recent acquisition. As per the plans unveiled by BASF for integrating Ciba Holding, which it acquired in April 2009, the latter's businesses are to be integrated into the operating divisions in BASF's Performance Produces segment. The integration will involve extensive restructuring measures that BASF expects to generate synergies of at least Euro 400-mn per year from 2012 onward. By the end of 2010, BASF hopes to achieve savings of approximately Euro 300-mn.
