The global textile industry is currently witnessing a major reorientation towards non-clothing applications of textiles,known as technical textiles.This segment,which focuses on specific functional requirements,rather than aesthetics and comfort with which clothing applications of textiles are normally associated,is growing at almost twice the rate of textiles for clothing applications and now account for more than half of textile production.
