Scrap VAT on energy-efficient products: Assocham

In order to obtain 40% energy efficiency throughout the country,Assocham has called for scrapping the value added tax (VAT) from some electrical appliances like CFLs,electronic chokes,energy efficient tube lights,solar heaters and solar lighting.Presently a 10% VAT is applied on these products.
