Solvay to launch sodium bicarbonate production in Germany

Solvay will start manufacturing sodium bicarbonate at its Bernburg,Germany site at the end of 2005,confirming its position as a major European and global competitor for the production of this chemical.The new unit will have a nominal capacity of 100,000-tpa.The announcement follows a recent acquisition by Solvay of American Soda in the US.
