Perdaman Chemicals and Fertilisers (Perth, Australia) will spend A$3.5 billion ($2.8 billion) to build a huge ammonia-urea complex based on coal. The project, dubbed the Collie urea project, will be at the Shotts industrial estate, Western Australia. Shell will provide coal gasification and gas treatment technology, Haldor Tospoe will supply its ammonia synthesis process, and Stamicarbon will provide its urea 2000 plus melt technology and fluid-bed granulation process.
